How is Värnamo and any tips for moving there?

Hi I am a Chinese student and I just got my first engineering job in Värnamo. When I search for "Värnamo" i found many crime topics here. How is the safety there and what about comparing to nearby cities like Ljungby and Växjö?

It´s like asking where the crime is in Tombstone, if you go look for it. Värnamo is a small sleepy society not much happening at all ever, much less in terms of crime.

If you got to press the issue, last few decades there has been a surge in population of impoverished/addicts/mentally challenged individuals mainly situated on outskirts. Reason is low housing prices as in, no demand for living there in the first place. Those are the ones, if any, who make up for crime rates.

i bought a car a couple years ago in värnamo. its a lonely city. The people are nice.
And the housing prices there are not expensive.

i would not live there even if you paid me.

Neither Värnamo nor Ljungby qualifies as "cities". Växjö is a very small city in the middle of the forest, but has more problems with crime than the rural small town Värnamo. You must really like nature to cope living anywhere in this area.

Värnamo is a pretty calm society, not crime riden. I wouldn't call Värnamo a city, it's just to small. But for sure calmer then Ljungy or Växjö, not saying either of the 2 cities have high crime rate though. I have relatives living in Värnamo and they've had no problems whatsoever.

If I had a choise between getting aids or move to Varnamo ?

You will like it in Varnamo. They have a good Kinakrog who serve the best fyra smårätter I ever
tasted. Also the vårrulle is supertasty.

Also the friterad banan with icecream is delicious.

A guy around 45 years old in Värnamo was trying to scare me last week. He stopped his car at me and asked me the largest airport in Stockholm. He claimed to be an Italian Watch designer and showed me four watches from the brand "Martyn Line''. He said he came to Sweden for a conference and doesn't want to pay for the tax for the watches when leaving Sweden. He offered me the price 200 Euros for the four watches which he claimed them to be around 2000 Euros.
